Gettysburg Reenactment

Postby bdimon » Thu Jul 04, 2013 7:25 pm

I'm heading up to the big reenactment in Gettysburg this Saturday. Anybody else? It likely to be the biggest reenactment ever.

How did that go? I usually go to Gettysburg once a week or so but sure didn't want to be around with an extra few hundred thousand people clogging the roads.

It was great. I have never seen so many sutlers. You could buy anything from the period. The reenactors are aging. There is some new young blood but a think a lot of them will retire after the last 150th anniversary. The event was expensive but it was obvious that they shelled out a lot of money to make it happen. I'm glad I went. Next up, the 150th reenactments with Grant leading the way. I think I want to definitely see the 150th of Appomatox in 2015.
