Headed to Anchorage in July

Postby ObiWan » Sun Feb 05, 2012 2:57 pm

If anyone is interested:

My friend from Birmingham and I are going to ride to Anchorage in July and stop by Sedalia on the way back. We plan to leave around July 1st. We will go through Edmonton, AB and on to Anchorage though the SW corner of Yukon. We may take a ferry down from somewhere on the Inside Passage. Get to Seattle, hang for a day or two and then on to Sedalia.

Any are welcome to join the trip. Lemme know if you are interested in a great ride!

Oooh, Blake--what a wonderful trip you have planned! :D My dream has always been to ride to Bellingham, WA, put the bikes on a ferry, do the Inside Passage, then get off at Haines, AK and ride rest of the way around to Anchorage. They charge big bucks (we'd essentially have to pay four fares on the ferry--two people and two bikes), but the experience would be wonderful. We've driven over to Whitehorse before from Anchorage to go fly-in fishing in the Yukon, and gone through the Kluane Preserve--absolutely beautiful country you'll be seeing. I'm so jealous!!!

That sounds like an awesome trip. Make a great story for Between the Spokes ... but I bet you knew I was going to say that :)

Hey Jaime!

We plan to leave around the first of July and the MOA is from July 19 to July 22.

So, likely about 3 weeks on the road...

Mike and I have both have family in the Seattle area, so we will likely hang out there for a few days to meet up with friends and family. Then on to Sedalia (MOA Rally). From there back home, maybe leaving Saturday night...

We would love to have you travel with us!

Well folks, the way things shake out in the world, Mike could not get the time off in July.

So, we are going to leave from the SRR Saturday night or early Sunday morning, June 2 or 3. We plan to head out west stopping by at a few places along the way. We will head to Anchorage via Canada (the ALCAN highway). We will stop by Seattle for a day or two and then head to Copper Mtn, Colorado for the RA Rally (14 to 17 June) and then home from there...

If anyone is interested in "Heading North to Alaska". let me know, we will include you in our plans!

Sounds like fun, but bring your heated gear for Alaska. June can still be pretty cold through the mountains.

If you're already in Anchorage, might as well take another day to overnight outside of Denali NP. And, then head east to Fairbanks, and then ..... I'm sure the boss would totally understand you stretching this out a little
I think the king salmon run has started about then. That is one of the tastiest fish I've ever eaten . Scott
