Posted: Wed Jan 22, 2020 12:52 pmIt was okay. BMW was not there and the show was even smaller than last year. The stunt show was fun and the electric Zero motorcycle training rides were very popular. You could tell who the real beginners were by the big smiles on their faces. 
Long Haul Paul gave a really good talk on jury-rigging a broken motorcycle so you could continue your trip.
I do not understand why BMW did not want to support the four local dealers by attending. Maybe they think they do not need to increase their sales in this market?

The cost to rent space at the IMS shows, let alone the cost of moving a semi full of bikes, displays, and staff around the country is astronomical. BMW went to the shows at Long Beach and New York, which are the two largest in terms of attendance. Although BMW continues to set sales records year after year, the economy is still very difficult these days. I wish they were there, too, as I enjoy working the booth and talking to people, but I understand the economics involved.

That's a good one! We have a lot less money than BMW and fewer people. Most customers do their research online these days rather than pay to go to a bike show that gets smaller every year. IMS is a nice break during the winter for riders, but isn't very profitable for the exhibitors.
