Anyone going to Fingerlakes Rally

Postby AKaplan98 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 11:33 am

I have convinced the wife to go with me (following in a cage - she won't ride). Looking to see if anyone else is planning on going and would like to ride together.

Thanks.

Well Allan, we'll have to see you at the rally, but we'll be taking an 885 mile loop up to Watkins Glen. Gotta collect some more I've Been Everywhere GT photos and some more Great States Tour welcome signs. :rider: Watch out for the town of Selinsgrove if that's the route chosen. There always seems to be snarled traffic there where the highway ends and you're forced to drive through town... #-o OTOH, Wellsboro is a nice town to visit (with a fine old diner), and it's not too far from the "Grand Canyon of the East" if you allow extra time.

We'll see ya'll out on the dance floor in the evenings at the dining hall. :MJ: Tony mentioned they plan to have a good "country band" this year, as well as the entertaining band they had last year.
Ciao!

Lisa and I are 2-up and tenting it. Looking forward to it too. Like the idea, Phil, of that bit of a detour to enjoy the ride.

I'll see you guys there then, as I don't think I'll have the extra days for the round-about route. I'm planning to leave Fri morning, come home Monday or Tuesday.

I'm pretty sure we'll be there--it's one of our favorite rallies!

It was on my list, but the week after is the Horizons Unlimited Travelers Meeting in NC - can't do both... :(

Thinking about attending, what are the particulars with the club cabin?

Just let us know for sure by posting to this thread, so we don't overbook, and however many stay in the cabin will pay their share of the rental. It's not much money.

(The cabin has cots and electricity. Toilets and showers are several hundred feet down the gravel path.)

The Missus and I plan to be there too. This is one of her favorites. And she gets to rider her Fazer!

(BTW, she went to MOA with me, on her bike!) We just got home yesterday...

Finger Lakes is one of my favorite rallies, too. I even have a rally mug from there on my desk at work :D

Like Avner, I'll be hitting the Horizons Unlimited meeting in NC, so I'll miss this one. Have a great time, everybody!

Can you refresh my memory on the cabin's accommodations? How many bunk beds are there? Got some room for Karen & me? It would save on the luggage if we just carried extra ear plugs for the cabin...
I'm thinking of riding the R90S on this excursion toward the northeast...

The cabin is an open bunkhouse with however many GI-style cots they provide us, at least a dozen. (Some of us eschew the cots and put the mattresses directly on the floor, then use the naked cots for gear lay-out.) There's plenty of room for you and Karen, Phil. And more. Just let us know for sure in the next few weeks.
