Yeah, Ed, you deserve a Mac! :D

Smartphones can geocache the lat/long of each photo.

As can some cameras. I'm outa luck, though, cause I have a stupidphone and a camera that only takes pictures. I know, I'm a luddite.

Hi, Bob! I have a bunch of NT questions for you.

After all, it is your ride too and we want to be fair. All suggestions are welcome.

How about most pictures of intersections of US routes?

Glad you picked a beautiful day to ride up and pick up your number. Boy we had company for the past two days and didn't see a soul. You guys are quiet.

Or the most pictures collected on a single day? I like the efficiency idea, but some way that makes it possible to be most efficient on the last day and still win the tie-breaker.

Why does anybody expect there will be a tie?

Because it's been a long, miserable winter being inside without the benefit of daily riding so come good weather we all are going out and set this contest on fire and ride the wheels off of all our m/c's.
Butt then again, every spring I think the exact same thoughts.

Well, we've had ties in the past. Any time there's a finite number of things to be collected, there's a good chance that more than one person will collect them all. Got no problem with that. It's nice to "win", but riding around pursuing the objects is what I enjoy, so I don't really care whether there is a tie.

I'm not an expert on the New Testament, but I could probably fake it for a while.

Mike Kneebone has corrected me: the IBR this year will not be using the geocache feature of some phones and cameras. That will be done on the Saddlesore in conjunction with the IBA party in Jacksonville during Bike Week. Mea culpa. Mea maximum culpa.

Most signs collected in one day. I've got a little trip planned on Saturday to pop off some. Hope I have my flag by then. Getting a wire installed at George's in Manassas then riding in this order - you guys tell me if I'm missing any easy ones on the trip.

1. West on I-66 from Manassas
2.Route 29 in Gainesville
3. Route 55 in Gainesville
4. Route 15 as I head out Route 29
5 and 6.Route 3 in Culpeper - grab Route 17 on the way out
7.Grab Route 28 on the way back off I-66
8. Route 7
9. US Route 50
10. US Route 1
11. Heading to MD - MD Route 4
12. Heading towards Bob's - Route 32
13. Route 99 off of I-70
14. Route 97 off of I-70

That should be a good start 14% on Day 1.

Don, you would be off to a great start. Kind of sounds like you are trying to demoralize everyone, like don't even think about trying to beat me.

I can't beat the retired guys some of the US route numbers may be tough but we'll see? Ok I was thinking about this overnight - if I slip out of Leesburg on the way back I can grab Route 9 also - maybe that's the one Tina was talking about - that will be an even 15.

That should be a good start 14% on Day 1.

You missed US 40 and MD94.

40 parallels I-70 and is the same road in many places, including at the intersection with 32, 97, etc.

94 is the next exit west of 97 on 70

There's also MD 2 - but I don't know if you were going to head that far east... And MD5, but I think the 5's and 0's had to be US routes?

Those are the obvious ones to me. Have a good ride! :D

P.S. I'll help you, Don. But not Chiba :P

Don, I didn't do a mile plot, but these might be added to your list (as amended by Nancy) without undue hardship. It just would take a little more looping:

MD 34 southwest of Boonsboro
MD 67 south of Boonsboro
WV 9 12 31 and 34 in the Shepherdstown area
WV 8 11 18 and 19 in the Martinsburg area
WV 24 26 and 51 in the Inwood area
WV 2 and 13 around Summit Point

That takes you from your original 14 to 31. Hell, you could win this thing in one day. :D

As you know, no good deed goes unpunished, so in return I want you to check out what's supposed to be U.S. 48 running from Strasburg VA to Weston WV. It is claimed that this highway, which had either never been commissioned or not had been commissioned for years, rose from the ashes in 2002. I'll believe it when I see it.

I was thinking of Route 2 over by Fredericksburg, but I wasn't sure which way to figure it in your route. :?
