First HD, and it is in pretty good shape. 2004 with 30K miles on it. Needs a clutch, but still ridable. Came with a bunch of stuff. I will be replacing the Vance and Hines exhaust for quieter, and swapping in stockish bars. Other than that, not really sure what direction I will take. I am interested in ideas.





















I can kinda see why the HD guys love their chrome. It looks awesome clean. I just wiped down the bike, not washed, with a rag and detailer, and wow! HD makes some very good chrome. Now I don't want to ride it in the rain!

Oh yeah, clutch discs and spring are in.

Ah, so that explains the exhaust noises I've been hearing from the direction of Virginia!

Seriously, it looks like a fun change of pace. I just hope you don't get confused by its lack of a driveshaft, cylinders that go in all the wrong directions, and the absence of any clutch hydraulics…

Chopped and tacked the BMW bracket and temp mounted it.





It needs to go back 1.5 inches, and tilt up 2 inches in the back, but it should work. As it is, I do not hate it, and think it will be worth it when I add the panniers I just ordered.

It won't go faster than your slash 5 was, and certainly wont stop faster, but it will look better! Go chrome or go home!

Now that I am waiting on clutch parts I turned to adding the fairing mount, and mid controls. The crash bar came in allowing me to set it up.








Not exactly the same as the excellent work by @c1skout but I decided to use some brackets I have. The brackets on the angle supports will be replaced by chrome ones to blend in a bit more.

Added air shocks from a dyna, which raised the rear height 2", and more with air in them. I like it. I need to address the forks with longer spacers and fresh fluid. I also finished the fab on the Vetter mount, and started install on the pannier mounts. Though they say the fit is perfect, they failed to mention I would lose the rear pegs, so some fab needed to retain them. The racks also came with bolts too short, so I need to go get replacements.

Clutch done, pretty simple really. I did a bunch of little stuff, but not photo worthy.

Not much to show for it, except for shiny chrome! I did a lot of misc, including fixing a few crossthreaded bolts, trimming the belt guard to fit with the coming panniers, and small fixes.

Top Case arrived. I have to say, for only $85, it is pretty nice. I chose to screw it to the existing mount. I will nee to firm up the mounting hardware, and add spacers to make it not crack, bit I like it in this position.






Chrome rack or no? I have my opinion already in case you will be insulted that I do not take your advice.

Here you can see where I need to add spacers to ensure it doesn't crack.

Finally got in the panniers/saddlebags. They are larger and nicer than I expected. The racks and panniers were only $250. Color me impressed.






Now I need to adjust the racks to pull them in tighter and fully fit the panniers to the racks.

Finally got everything properly mounted. The pannier mounts for the racks did not line up right with the panniers. Turns out he sent the wrong ones, but they were larger, so I am OK with it. These are big and look pretty good to me. They also match up with the top case well. I did have to modify the forward rack mount so I could retain the stock rear foot pegs, and the bag mount supports needed to be remade from 1" flat bar. I also temp mounted the turn signals front and back. I think they work like that

Oh, and the seating position relative to the panniers was good. I do plan to move the top case back at least an inch, maybe two.
