SS Brake lines are in, about a week from Italy. $80 delivered. Great deal considering the Galfer or Speiglers are $200.

Seem to be nice quality too. https://www.carpimoto.it/en-US/12031_10 ... -93-01.htm

Tires in too, because the old ones are OLD, despite lots of tread:

I also started reassembly:

Got part way done today. Took off the wheels, cleaned them and realized I couldn't just clean the,. Demounted the tires, sanded and painted the wheels. Remount tomorrow, then the brakes.

Repainted the outdoor bar in a nicer pair of colors. The original matched the house, but looked silly by the fance.

Not much done on the bike today, the weather was too nice. After the wife and I got back home, I installed the metal valve stems on the wheels. Note that the weight isn't enough to pull it to the bottom. I also tumbled and painted the front wheel rotor bolts.

Refreshed the calipers today. They were rusty and nasty.

Some photos from the seal change. I did it dropping the fork leg, since I had the wheel off, and from the top, just for fun.

Not really much done. Painted the wheels, cleaned and lubed the calipers and loosely reinstalled them, and mounted the wheels.

Installed the rear caliper on the R1100RS, then flushed and bled all the brakes.

Tossed on the lower fairing just for incentive to finish it!

Shouldn’t the front wheel be mounted in the other direction? The way the gutters are oriented on the tire, it would be forcing water to the center and not to the outside.

Nope, front is correct. The rear and front have a different rotational look.

Is the color impregnated all through the plastic or is there a veneer of color on the outside? If you polish too much, would you go through the color layer?

It is all painted plastic. The paint is getting pretty thin, as red tends to do.

Battery charging, needs TB sync and starter is sticking, so I will need to take it apart and clean it.

Jim,

Wow, what a transformation! The RS is looking really good.

The calipers cleaned up very nicely. Are you going to sell the old brake pads on eBay?

Keep up the outstanding work!

Rick

Thanks Rick. It has been a fun project, except for the spiders.

Looks even better in the sun. Took it for a short ride today. Rides nice, but the ABS is flashing. I will try a reset tomorrow.
