My engine stopped at inconvenient times. I would pull over, put it in neutral, and start it back up. Wondered why it stopped. Squeezed the clutch, put it in first gear, and the engine would turn off. Wondered no more. I have had Kickstand trouble on other bikes. Wiggling the kickstand would let me run again.
Today I decide to fix it. I proved that the switch shorted when I wiggled the kickstand. I see that the switch housing is cracked so I clean it up, use a plastic weld to seal the housing, and put it back together. Used my multi-meter to prove that wiggling it no longer has a problem. Great!
Start the bike in neutral, squeeze the clutch, and click into first. Engine stops. Not great.
The switch assembly has a cord that ends in a connector with three wires labeled 1, 2, and 3. The 1 and 2 wires are shorted when the kickstand is down and are open when it is up. I do not know if number 3 wire has any purpose. The receiving socket also has three wires with matching numbers. With the ignition on, there is 12 volts across 1 (negative) and 2 and also across 1 and 3.
I need a GS-911 or some sage advice. Help please.
