Hello Everyone,

I am Sam. just acquired my first 1200GS 2006. with about 11,500 miles.

I would strongly like to attend. but I will be riding, or towing, from NYC.

Might tow it since I just bought the bike and don't have all the riding gear like reflective jacket for night ride etc. I would have to ride Friday night, after work, to attend Saturday morning.

Also, still need to acquire a helmet that will be comfortable for 5-6 hours of riding..the one I have, I can only tolerate it for under an hour.

I like to do things for 12,000 miles service, as my bike is reaching there and also sounds good to go through it for peace of mind after just purchasing.

Will depend if I can line up a tow trailer, have my tow vehicle ready, get all the parts needed for doing the 12K service etc. But, I am strongly interested to make it, to meet fellow GSers and to learn servicing my GS.

Anyone know how to get various oils and fluids etc. fast to do 12K service when I am there at Tech Day? or tech day isn't really for this purpose and I should expect something different?

Thanks for all inputs,
Sam

Hi Sam and welcome.
Changing fluids, synching throttle bodies etc etc is what we do at tech days.
Fluids can be purchased at most any auto parts store as long as you don't mind not using BMW branded items (most of us use the aftermarket things such as oils and filters.

Stop by if you make it down. If nothing else to meet some new friends that share a love of BMW motorcycles.

I can bring oil and filter for him. The trans fluid and FD fluid I do not have on hand.

Let me know.

Thanks Jim.

I can reimburse you for whatever supplied I borrow from you.

I am finding more challenges, like finding out that my tow vehicle has electrical short in the module for trailer signal indicators. Uhaul should use better quality parts, I just had them install it less then 2 years ago. So, more sorting out to do.

Odds are against me to make it, but I am still trying to figure it out. I will send an update weather I am making it or not.

Don't count me for food or anything, I am a vegetarian anyway! :)

Thanks everyone.

Too bad so many missed this one! We had a very good time, with great conversation, a little work done, and excellent food. Since when does a tech day have fresh grilled asparagus?

Thanks Bryant!

This was a very pleasant tech day, with perfect rider there and back and excellent food and conversation.
We actually worked on a bike as well!

Many thanks, Bryant

Thanks to Bryant for hosting, and JVB and Jerry for working on my bike. I just removed the seat and mostly stood and watched. :) Then we had a nice lunch.

It does run smoother and pulls better in 2000-3000 rpm range after the throttle body synch. And the oil level sensor is now working again. Not sure why. Maybe just clearing the code. (?)

Nice ride home, meandering up through Waterford, Taylorstown, then Furnace Mountain Rd., to 15. After Point of Rocks, back via Dickerson, White's Ferry and the gravel parts of River Road.

Thanks again.

It was a small group but a very good day. Not much work got done but it wasn't needed. Good food, good conversation and good friends, what more could you ask for.
