Bent rim - flat tire - Now Fixed

Postby bdimon » Wed Mar 11, 2015 7:38 pm

As I wait for the tow truck I might as well ask if a bent rim can be repaired or if I have to buy a whole new wheel? Perhaps I can find a used rum. George at Beemers Uber Alles might know.

Depends on how bad it is bent and if it is cracked. http://www.woodyswheelworks.com can fix most rims very effectively.

Thanks Jim. George might have a used wheel too. I'll buy it if he has one and then send the bent one for repair.

George at Beemer Uber Alles fixed me up with a used wheel and got me back on the road for less $$ than I thought it would cost. Thanks George!

The rim is not only bent but has a crack too. Maybe not repairable.

Looks like VDOT patched the pothole today.

I'll send photos to the wheel repair guys (Woody's Wheels) to see if this crack means that repair is impossible. The link to the full size image shows the crack better.

Crack means very likely not repairable.

Quite a bend, Bruce! That must have been a heck of an impact.
