I recently purchased a very rough 1985 K100 and am in the process of bringing it back to life. One of my first things was to replace the very leaky rear main seal (nothing like jumping in head first). I must admit I have not been that deep into an engine before and was a little nervous. Since the friction plate was soaked and after cleaning wasn't looking too good I went ahead and replaced it. All good so far.
I have the transmission back on and am attempting to adjust the clutch but find that once I get past the free play it feels like it is binding. Not a smooth through as I expected. So, I am wondering if this would be due to the clutch mechanism not having been spun and I should start the bike OR I did something wrong and need to take the transmission back off and disassemble the clutch and recheck my work.
I am in Bethesda and if anyone would be willing to talk I would love some advice.
Thanks in advance!
Dan
