Clock Electrical Short??

Postby jcabiles » Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:19 am

I have a problem with the clock on my '04 R115RT-P. It used to display even with the key off. Now it only displays with the key on, and the starter switch centered. Even then, the clock is reset to zeros.

I will be taking the tupperware off in the next few days to check the connections to the battery.

The battery checks out fine. A multimeter reading shows the voltage to well above 12 volts, key off, and a slight drop when the key is turned on and the dash lights engage.

Any suggestions on where to trouble shoot?

Blown fuse. Best to pull them out and check with a multi meter. On an non P RT it is the same fuse as the acc socket. If you checked battery voltage via the acc socket I would bet you shorted it on the way out. I have never done that :emb:

Thanks George. I checked at the battery terminal and at the acc socket. Wasn't getting a reading at the acc socket.

Yep. Fuse #3 was blown. Had a spare 15 A. All is good.

Darn. I thought you were getting ready to part out your RTP. I could use some parts. I need some front wheel bearings and maybe a new airbox.
