Tire Question..

Postby IAMBOB » Fri Nov 01, 2013 12:21 pm

I'm currently running Pilot Road II, and have Pilot Road III in my "cart" on SWMOTO.. front was no issue, as it only gave me one choice, but the rear Two Pilot Road III tires, one is 180 the other is 213?

Part numbers are different:

0302-0475 $180

0302-0474 $213

But their names are the same..

What gives.. I want to say the higher the number the newer the model, but I'd also figure the newer model the higher the price??

The "B" spec Michelin is a heavier duty tire meant for 2up and heavy bikes.

How am I supposed to know which one that is, or do I just assume it's the more expensive one?

You might check Revzilla -- I think they beat SW on pricing for the B-series rear. Scott

You might want to give them a try. http://www.chaparral-racing.com/Product/full-bore-m-1-radial-street-sport-rear-tire/083-SS0030.aspx

The Pilot 3 are $199 from them. http://www.chaparral-racing.com/Product/michelin-b-version-pilot-road-3-rear-tire/190-03020474.aspx

I'm not sure how long they will last but I like the price.

Thanks.. pulled the trigger this morning at SWMoto.. then on the way home blew a sidewall on the front right of the LR.. SOOOoOOOo. Purchased bike tires this morning then onto tire rack for three (one for the LR 2 for the highlander) tires for the "trucks"..

I REALLY needed the tires fir the bike, I'm really having to push it into corners. Can't wait to get out and hang it out in the corners on new shoes.. not much fun when you have ro slow down when entering ALL corners

Our every day price for the same tire is only $5 more, and you'd be helping to support a company that does a lot to support the club. Just saying...

Steve, I've always assumed dealer prices on tires were astronomical. I had a dealer (NOT Mortons) put a front tire on my 1150rs and they hit me for $300.. turned me off to ever going to.a.dealer for tires.

Next time I WILL check out Morton's too.

Thanks, Bob. All we ask is for a chance to earn the business -- besides selling you your bike, of course :-)

From shopping around the last time I bought tires, both Morton's and Beemers Uber Alles were within a few (I think it was $5) dollars of the Internet stores. Since I hate wrestling with rubber hoops (lost both times), local seems the way to go for me.
