TECH DAY THIS SUNDAY 4/14

Postby BMWGirl » Mon Apr 08, 2013 10:47 am

There will be a tech session held AFTER the meeting at Battleys.

Please keep in mind that there are only a few hours left so please keep your maintainence to the basic minimums - oil changes, fd fluid change, tires, etc....

Battley Techs are NOT allowed to work on your bike but 1 or 2 will be floating around if you have questions. :D

The use of the lifts will be available and I believe some tools. It's a great place to do work, so I hope you come by!!

Hello All,
If anyone coming to the tech day has any experience with clutch switch adjustment on a 12 gs I would love their guidance this Sunday. The bike will no longer start in gear and my hope is that this is the problem. This link http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthre ... and+switch , details the work needed (IF that is the issue!) and it doesn't look too tough, I just thought if someone had done it before I would wait and tackle it at Battleys with expertise near by!

Thanks,
ela

I have a short list that includes some accesories that I just haven't gotten around to...winter in a detached unheated garage is NOT the time to do these things! Nothing too complicated, just looking forward to a warm well-lit area. :D

The store and shop closes promptly at 4pm. All your loose parts should be accounted for and reattached.

I plan on doing an oil change, trans oil & maybe even the FD. If I get through all that I *may* flush my brake fluid if I can get some help - I've never done it before. Of course, I think the tank has to come off, so I may not do that after all; I'm planning on rebuilding my calipers in the near future (or having them rebuilt, depending on time & motivation), so I might just wait for that to do the brake fluid.

I migh have have a few things to do before my first SS1000 attempt later this month. Noticed some cracks in the plastic wireing harness that I want to fix/patch, top off break fluid after a leaky banjo bolt, maybe oil and filter...

Brake Fluid flush seems to be popular. That and brake pads are my plan too. I assume the club's GS-911 will be there. Apparently after bleeding the power brakes on my 2005 R1200RT, I should have he computer test for maximum pressure. Did not do that before.

I'm about 80% sure I'll be there. I'll bring my TwinMax if I can make it. If not, I could loan it to somebody in NoVA to take there.

Me too (80%) and will bring my Harmonizer I got from JVB. It's like a TwinMax, but it's not...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCDLUktfB6c

I may or may not be installing some h/b risers. You would think it would be pretty straightforward but it may involve reversing a brake line. Even so, I 'd like to try to get it done.

I was speaking with a tech friend and he mentioned there are a lot of bikes that NEVER get the brake fluid changed, unless the tech explains the fluid isn't supposed to look like chai  Scott
