Buzzer for turn signals

Postby kioolt » Thu Oct 25, 2012 10:39 am

Is there any interest in how to install a piezo buzzer as a turn signal reminder? I bought a piezo buzzer years ago to install on my 82 R100RT. I never got around to doing it. Yesterday I decided to install it on my 04 R1150RT. If anyone is interested on how to do this let me know.

My R65 has a buzzer installed like that. It's wired with a switch on the clutch so if I'm sitting at an intersection waiting for the light to change, keeping the clutch squeezed means I don't have to listen to it.

I never thought of making it not buzz when stopped at a traffic light. That's a pretty good idea.

Kioolt,

I installed a buzzer on my '84 R80RT some years ago. Because of the way that bike was wired (or the way that I saw to do the install), I had to use two diodes with the buzzer to keep from shorting the left & right-side signal lamps to each other (creating 4-way flashers when the turn signal was activated). Either that, or install a separate buzzer for each side.

You might be able to do it differently than that on your R1150RT. Have you looked at the wiring diagram to see how to do it?

I've already installed the buzzer. My original post was to see if there was any interest in me telling someone how to do it. I did install two diodes like you said when I installed mine.

Yes, I am interested. Please post your project to share with those of us who would find value in this non-standard farkle!

A photo essay would be sweeeet!

What's the over/under on how long the buzzing drives you nutz and the farkle gets de-installed

Actually it sounds like a neat idea.

I'll be able to take photos when I hook up my trailer lights in the near future. I installed the buzzer in the area behind the rear lights which I will have access to again soon. It could be installed at the front of the bike if you so desire. It's not a complicated circuit. Just two diodes and the buzzer. Total cost should be under $6.
