What's the story on Battley Cycles?

Postby DiscoPete » Thu May 24, 2018 4:52 am

I just received an email ad from District Harley-Davidson, formerly Battley Cycles.
Anyone know the story behind the change in ownership?

From a disinterested party, the story is quite simple: Devon is "Retiring" after many years of active M/C sales & customer support and will become a contributing Board member to the New Staff at District HD (who actually run a big dealership somewhere in Norfolk area)... :) The situation will apparently be "evolving" over the next 12 months -- don't know where that leaves the BMW brand at that particular Rockville location. BUT D.B. did sink a lot of money into making his newest showroom (BMW & Ducati) compatible with BMW Motorrad's "required architectural design" [as did Jeff Massey at Morton's]. Bob Henig maybe not to the same extent for some reason?

You'll note that M/C of Dulles' Triumph & BMW & Indian & ZERO has greatly expanded, so maybe some of Battley's clientele is no longer crossing the American Legion Bridge. Just Sayin...

I think Devon plans to spend much more leisure time living and touring in Europe and supporting some of the young motorcycle racers he 'connects' with. He used to ride & race on the track often - let's just say he's slowing down a bit to enjoy the spoils of his labors. =D>

We're going to follow y'alls' escapades from afar when we settle into our new digs in Huntsville!

Thanks for the low-down on that, Phil.
Sounds like a positive for Mr. Battley.
And Good Luck to you as well in Huntsville.
