where to get tires changed

Postby mlytle » Sun Jan 08, 2017 10:54 pm

getting about time to change the tires on my K75s. any recommendations on local (near alexandria) places to get it done? are they friendly to "bring your own tires"?

not sure what tires to get yet. selection limited for the vintage wheel sizes...but need something sticky. not concerned about longevity.

thanks!

I do my own, but I would recommend Beemers Uber Alles. He fits the bill, and is very reasonable.

http://beemersuberalles.com/ As for George.

I get mine changed at Morton's. They do offer competitive prices. But talking about tires, if you don't already have it, I would highly recommend getting the tire protection add on to BMWMOA membership. If you don't have a membership, it is a good reason to have it. It also includes roadside assistance as well. I have renewed my membership with tire insurance for 5 years for $364 and 2 months after that got a flat tire and they reimbursed me (they actually reimbursed Morton's so I didn't even pay anything) for $240. The insurance will reimburse you for up to $250 twice a year. I am very unlucky when it comes to flats so I really need this. I got 3 flat tires the last 3 years which adds up as you know.

Second the recommendation on BUA. I have my tires shipped directly to George...no "hula hoop"...

Thanks all. I do have the upper level MOA membership with tire insurance.

Wish there was a "tirerack" with installers like exists in the car tire world.

Just so's you know, our tire prices are probably just as good -- if not better -- than most online places, and you're helping keep alive an actual brick-and-mortar dealership.

I always encourage comparison shopping. How much do you charge to install?

If the wheels are on the bike and you buy the tires from us, removal of the wheel, mounting and balancing the new tire, and re-installing the wheel is $50 per tire; if you bring the wheels in yourself and buy the tires from us, it's $35 per tire mounted and balanced. These prices are discounted somewhat from what we charge someone bringing in their tires from another source. For more info, folks can give our service guys a call at 540-891-9844.

Cross Roads Cycles in Baileys Cross Roads. They are right off of Rt. 7 where it intersects with Columbia Pike.
