Ice II Air plug on ADV

Postby sati8d on Thu Jun 28, 2012 6:54 am

Hey guys,
Many of us ADV gang have bought the device to increase lower-end power to our pre-2010 bikes - it's called the Ice II Air. Some really smart dudes in CA, engine computer specialists, built a plug-in play device like the Booster Plug but a far better device and FAR cheaper. It plugs into the air filter sensor and tells the engine it's 20, 10, or 0 degrees colder - you pick. At the offset, the engine runs a little richer providing a really fun response to low end torque and it stops any back firing for us GS guys. Guys on 1150 say it's an incredible difference. On later 1200, it's not as pronounced, but no one has said it was bad - everybody has raved at the torque and fun acceleration difference. My gas mileage has not changed except that I'm having too much fun twisting the wrist too much now!

Anyway - I've loved mine! They were not making any more - but due to high demand made a batch of 30 more. 28 are left. If you're looking for more pep in low end, which us GS guys need off-road and a more spirited throttle - this little guy works great.
In terms of power difference you can immediately see - I ride a big GS Adventure, and even with a full tank of 9 gals, I can pull a wheelie without the clutch.

Just passing it on!
Smooth throttle and spirited twisties!

I had never heard of this thing before today. But... I think it is a stretch to say it is far better than the Booster Plug...

By the smart engine computer dude in CA's own admission, it does the EXACT same thing as the Booster Plug, difference being the IICE Air is adjustable... (So it will work with his other device.)

FWIW, the IICE Air dudes also say the Booster Plug will work "2/3" with their new device... (IICE Cool)

Anecdotal evidence from my newer KGT is that the Booster Plug took the low speed lug/lurch out of my bike. I used to not be able to ride the bike at 25MPH without it bucking and lurching unless I was over 4,000 RPM. Now I can ride at 25MPH in 3rd gear at, like, 1500 RPM if I want to...

As far as fuel consumption goes, there was no change at all that I noticed. Since both devices are basically the same and do the same thing, they should behave the same. That is: they only work when there is throttle change, the O2 sensor will compensate for the richness and "revert back" the mixture. So, it really works well for the around town or non highway riding. At speed (constant throttle) the O2 sensor wins.

I am totally pleased with the Booster Plug on my bike. And I am on no-way trying to poo poo the IICE Air. In-fact, had I known of its existence, at the price, I probably would have bought it...

I am just saying that the Booster Plug works as advertised on my KGT...

From what I am reading about what it is supposed to do and the cost of it, I am willing to give it a shot on my single spark 1150RTP. It appears to be adjustable back to stock settings if necessary or, at the very least, your can easily remove it. I am curious to see if it truly will make a difference in the smoothness at the slower speeds.

I ordered mine, that lurch in the lower gears is a bit unsettling.

I bought one a while back for my GSA (same model as Tony's) and immediately noticed a difference when rolling on the throttle.

Third gear wheelies appearing over small rises at 70mph (that weren't there before) convinced me it's doing something right.

And fuel consumption remained exactly the same.

(I am sorry, I cannot resist. ) But is that "big GS Adventure" as opposed to the small GS adventure???
