Yamaha FJR1300 or Honda GoldWing?

Postby brian » Sun Oct 26, 2003 7:09 pm

I stilll think that the 1980 R100T, Windjammer fairing, Krauser bags that I am riding is my idea of a perfect motorcycle. Except that I am getting tired of the high repair bills. Actually, they would be ok, except that no matter how much I spend, I can't seem to get it to run just right. I am planning to replace it with a Yamaha FJR1300 or a Honda Goldwing, in either case a 2004 model. Does anyone have any thoughts on the relative merits of these two bikes, especially for a 23 year R100T rider?

Thanks,
Brian

I think if I were to buy a non-BMW it would be a Yamaha FJR1300 - everyone I've talked to loves them and they maintain the "sport" side of riding.

Check out the latest Rider magazine (Dec 2003). It has a comparison of the Honda ST1300, the Yamaha FJR1300, the BMW K1200GT and the R1150RT. All are recommended, except the GT. Here's the link:
