Hi, This may surprise some of you but I have always liked the R1200C variants. Tomorrow I will pick up my first, a 2003 R1200CLC with 81K miles on it. It is physically a little rough, but runs well. My plan is to make it mine by doing a HD thing. I am going to murder it out (I always hated that term, but it fits.) Black out everything. The chrome is too rough to salvage, and the polished parts are all pitted. So my "Chromehead" is going to become a Blackhead. Here is what I am starting with:
2020 Mercedes-Benz SL550 2013 BMW 335i convertible (sold) 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage (sold) 2006 BMW Z4 3.0i roadster (sold) 2005 BMW R1200GS (retired) 2003 BMW F650CS (sold)
Rough cut of the blank plate to hide where the factory mirror was. I added the logo from the side case for fun, but it could be blank or with a BMW roundel.
Got some work done on the bike today. First, I needed to remove the starter to paint, then discovered it was all caked up. Time to strip, clean and lube it.
Next I prepped the bike for paint. I know, better to remove everything, but that is way beyond what I am willing to do on a beater old bike. Huge job. Instead I taped it well.
